Call for museum partners for the National Gallery Curatorial Traineeships programme
/The National Gallery and Art Fund are pleased to announce two new fully funded curatorial traineeships in 2017-2019. These have been made possible through the National Gallery Curatorial Traineeship Programme with Art Fund support and the assistance of the Vivmar Foundation.
Launched in 2011, the traineeships were established jointly by the National Gallery and Art Fund to address the need for a renewed focus on object and collections-based expertise in Old Master painting. The trainees work at the National Gallery and then with regional museum partners over a 22 month period. Museum partners are asked to identify a collections/object and research based project to support their own collections of European Paintings pre-1900.
We are now inviting museum partner applications for the 2017-2019 traineeships. The deadline is Monday 3 April 2017. For more information and to discuss making an application please contact Bryony Smith, National Programmes Co-ordinator: bryony.smith@ng-london.org.uk.
The application form can be found here.
Please do NOT contact us about applications for the curatorial post- these posts will be advertised on the National Gallery website later in the spring.
These two new traineeships follow successful projects at Manchester Art Gallery, Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, and York Art Gallery. The current trainees are working on projects at Ferens Art Gallery, Hull and Auckland Castle. For more information about all these projects and about the trainees, please visit the National Gallery website here.
