Reminder: SSN Research Bursary 2017, supported by the Pilgrim Trust

Reminder: Applications to apply for the SSN Research Bursary to support research focusing on pre-1900 European paintings must be received by Monday 23 Octber 2017.

The SSN Research Bursary, generously supported by the Pilgrim Trust, is designed to enable a museum or gallery professional to work for a sustained period on a particular piece of research into one or more pre-1900 continental European paintings in their organisation's collection. Research should be intended for a particular purpose, such as an exhibition, new label or display, publication, public engagement outcome, or similar.

Applicants can apply for funding up to £1,000 and may use the funds to cover travel and subsistence costs to visit the National Gallery and other institutions in London or for short periods of research abroad.

The bursary can also be used to cover a freelance fee if a museum has an important research project which a permanent member of staff is unable to undertake. If this is the case, the museum must bid for the cost and manage the payment of the external person directly.
